Paper reports on a research project in southwest Louisiana conducted during the timeframe 1972 through 1978 regarding prescribed burning in young slash pine plantation.  The purpose of the research was to determine the effect that fire had on pine height and diameter development as well as herbage production in the understory.  Research included a no-burn control area, March burning, May burning, and several frequency iterations.
