    Description

Vintage report booklet "SLASH PINE AT AUBURN A CASE HISTORY" Agricultural Experiment Station, Auburn University.  Forestry Departmental Series No. 1, June, 1964.  Knox W. Livingston, Assistant Professor.
51 page document made up of gloss paper stapled on left margin to a heavy weight gloss cover.
    Measures 8 1/2" wide x 11" tall.
Booklet discusses Auburn University planting slash pine in and near Auburn, Alabama in the period 1927 - 1939 and the resulting tree measurements and volumes from those plantings 31 years after planting.  Much discussion on volumetric comparison from various initial tree density (spacing at time of planting), and thinning vs. no thinning.
Document is in very good condition.
Document does not have any marking or hand writing in it.  Edges are good with only minor wearing in the middle of right edge from "thumbing" the document. One of the staples is rusted and has stained the middle page around the staple.
Nice piece for legacy forest stewardship / forest research memorabilia collection.
USFS Southeastern Forest Experiment Station, USDA Forest Service. USDA Soil Conservation Service.  Alabama Polytechnic Institute.
