    Description

Vintage report booklet "Soil Factors Influencing the Growth of Slash Pine Plantations in Northeast Florida" by Robert L. Barnes and Charles W. Ralston, School of Forestry, University of Florida.  June, 1952.  Research Report No. 1.  Acknowledgements to the USFS Southeastern Forest Experiment Station, USDA Forest Service. Photos courtesy of Container Corporation of America.
11 page document made up of paper stapled on right margin to a construction paper weight type cover.
    Measures 5 3/4" wide x 8 5/8" tall.
Booklet discusses the need for planting slash pine on denuded lands (1952) in Northeast Florida and how to estimate site index and forest yield based on soil profile instead of using traditional tree measurements. Discusses depth of soil mottling as key indicator of site index.
Document is in good condition.  There are some freckles on the front cover and the bottom edge of the back cover.  Handwritten name on top margin of front cover.
Document does not have any other marking or hand writing in it.  Edges are good with only minor wearing on bottom right corner.
Nice piece for legacy forest stewardship / forest research memorabilia collection.
